Breast Reduction

Having too much of something can be very difficult. This is what some women feel with their breasts. Although there are ladies who are scrambling to have the next breast augmentation procedure, there are also women who feel the strain of having too much up top. Breast reduction procedures aren’t that well known because so much attention is given to breast augmentation, liposuction and plastic surgery procedures of the like. However, a number of women do go through with the procedure each year. The reason for this is because having too large breasts can actually lead to health problems.

You may know that you require breast reduction because you will feel a number of symptoms. You may have neck, back or shoulder pain that would not go away with massages, ointments and proper posture. At the same time, you may notice that you get rashes under your breasts all of the time. These rashes can develop on the skin under your bra straps since women who have too large breasts may groove into your shoulders. Women who are too busty tend to have bad posture. The reason for this is because the weight of their breasts actually cause for them to slouch in order for them to carry the weight.

There are a number of psychological issues that come with having too large breasts. The first is that you often have a hard time doing any physical activity because the weight will always make everything you do very cumbersome. At the same time, there are certain clothes that you can’t get into. Although these women aren’t really fat, because the right proportions aren’t there, it may be difficult for these people to get into clothes, especially swimwear.

What breast reduction can do is to remove any of the symptoms that come with having too large breasts. At the same time, it will allow you to see herself in a very different light. You will have a better self-image and your self-confidence will be significantly bolstered.
Because breast reduction is a major surgical procedure, there is a compelling need for you to be completely honest with your doctor about your medical history. You should be able to tell your doctor your medical history as well as the surgical procedures that you have undergone in the past years. In order for you to know exactly what you are getting into, it would be advisable to ask your doctor for pamphlets and instructional material for the entire procedure.

Before the start of the procedure, you will be weighed. If you have a BMI of more than 30, you may have to lose a few pounds before being able to go on with the procedure. You should also discuss with your doctor thoroughly your expectations and the cup size that is ideal for your frame. It is only normal for your doctor to order a mammogram and a breast examination before the start of the procedure in order for him to give you the thumbs up on the breast reduction procedure.

After the breast reduction procedure, you may have to wait for two to three weeks before being able to go back to work. You will not be able to do anything physically demanding for at least six weeks. Your breasts will still be swollen during that time but the scars will slowly fade with time.

Women who are under the age of 18 should wait until they are older to get the procedure. This is because younger women will have immature breast tissues. Also, women who plan to have and breastfeed more children and also those with breast infections should postpone their breast reduction procedures.
