Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. The result of a tummy tuck is a much flatter abdominal area that gives you the desired look and confidence.

Why would I want a tummy tuck?
The most common reasons that a person may want a tummy tuck would be excess skin in the abdomen area, or a protruding abdomen due to:
- Pregnancy
- Aging
- Significant fluctuations in weight
- Heredity
- Prior surgery
Who is a good candidate for a tummy tuck?
You are a good candidate for a tummy tuck if you have excess skin that cannot be tightened with diet or exercise. Ideal candidates should be in good physical shape and have realistic outcomes. A tummy tuck is not the ideal procedure for obese patients. Other characteristics include:
- excess or sagging abdominal skin
- an abdomen that protrudes and is out of proportion to the rest of your body
- abdominal muscles that have been separated and weakened
- excess fatty tissue that is concentrated in your abdomen
How does the procedure work?
The procedure is quite simple. Your doctor will make a long incision that starts from one hipbone to the other. A second incision is done around the navel. The abdominal skin is then separated from the muscles which are in turn tightened. The skin is pulled down and a new hole for your navel is made before stitching everything back into place.
